Electric Guitar Parts | Fender Stratocaster | Golden Gate | Ibanez
The best electric guitar parts are hard to find. Whether you’re looking for guitar bridges, custom electronics and bodies, a 3-way switch, volume knobs, jack plates, bass tuners, knobs, pickups, replacement strings and all the rest it can be pretty hard to find the BEST places to get them. The thing is that stores like Guitars Plus don’t always meet the needs of the quality customer. Don’t forget that electric guitar parts can be hard to find if you don’t know where to look. If I want parts for my Fender Telecaster, I might have to look elsewhere to get the cheapest price, than my local Guitar Center.
There are a bunch of retailers out there selling used Electric Guitar Parts. Only thing is that it can be hard to find, whether you’re from Creighton or anywhere else, a brand I particularly found hard to find is the Ibanez. That guitar is definitely hard to find parts for. My friend has a Ibanez 2004 Paris and he has to pay thousands of dollars a year just to take care of it, especially because he uses it in so many performances and such. The popular depot outlets for electric guitar parts are definitely short on supply and high on price, and even low on quality in many cases, particularly for custom guitars. So for brands like these, I suggest doing a little research and find out the EXACT SPECIFIC QUALITIES of your particular electric guitar parts
Same day shipment is a really good catch for most retailers of electric guitar parts. One person offered free electric guitar lessons along with the guitar parts just for purchasing his products. Not the best deal because the best electric guitar parts are actually found from your own personal network. Ask your friends, they usually know the most cutting-edge places to get guitar parts, for instance the Elderly is an instrument that is really difficult to find parts for.
For jack plates in particular you might need to go to a special store, one of them near my town is called “Bass Bridges, Bass Tuners, and Electric Guitar Parts” it’s a really shady place that looks like a front for other operations but they sell jack plates. They sell em cheap too. The trick with electric guitar parts like these is you really have to understand how to work the system. Something I’ve had so much trouble finding is the non trem bridge. That equipment is definitely considered a treasure to find in my parts. I eventually learned from a friend of mine in a band that he saw a lot of em brought at a particular thrift store! Don’t doubt the inadequacy of that electric guitar catalog you keep looking at, and start looking elsewhere for real deals. “You first order is free” doesn’t usually cut it, as with many things that is usually a scam.
Epiphone guitars are hard to find. In the Chicago area I recommend talking to specialists who are obsessed with Edward Van Halen, believe it or not they know the most about the electric guitar parts for this particular model. They also tend to know a lot about the Fender Stratocater as well but they tend not to know much about the best replacement pickups for Fenders. I once knew a dude from my local guitar parts depot who gave me the wrong jack plates, and I just about socked him in the face. I really recommend not dealing with people like that, I recommend you giving them a quiz with how much they know about jack plates and bass tuners before dealing with them any further. Details I will give in my next blog posts, I’ll provide a regular list of questions I typically ask the people I deal with.
Anyways, let’s start by 1) identifying electric guitar parts you need. Obviously if you have a Fender Stratocaster, you’re not going to be looking at the bass bridges designed for Telecasters. It’s important that you really identify what you need. Replacement strings tend to be the trickiest, there are some strings that just don’t sound right on a Fender that sound great on an acoustic guitar. You must understand that the Ibanez guitar only sounds good with Ibanez strings, in most cases. Okay this sounds easy? Understand that Ive met so many people who use Golden Gate strings on the Stratocasters. You’ve just got to understand your electric guitar parts.
Now, 2) finding those electric guitar parts for your guitar in particular. Best sources for electric guitar parts include friends, family, and people in your band. Neutral sources for equipment include Guitar Center, and retail outlets. No-no’s for electric guitar parts are the Internet, especially fishy websites that claim to sell you Fender pickups but display a ridiculous bass that you have no idea where he found such a bad guitar in the first place. Ignore them completely, they are scammers not people who know anything about electric guitar equipment.
3) testing the parts on your electric guitar. Even if you are sure you have the best electric guitar parts on hand, please be aware that especially if you have something like a custom Ibanez guitar, you’re gonna need to test it. Test your replacement parts carefully,
a) Listen to the sound of your guitar. If it sounds acoustic get rid of the part right away (except if that was what you were trying to achieve)
b) Ok it sounds electric. Are there buzzes or overtones that weren’t there before? Is tuning your guitar with the new parts unnecessarily more difficult than before? If so, re-adjust all the electric guitar parts, and then try again. If the tones or overlays of sound change, readjust as necessary. It may take several hours be patient as replacement bass bridges in particular tend to be quite difficult and time consuming to adjust. Otherwise just discard the part and look for a better one.
c) Keep in mind that replacement electric guitar parts are of the most difficult in terms of achieving original sound quality. If your part is not from Guitar Center you tend to have a harder time than people who have obtained their parts from exclusive sources particular to their guitar. An exception is that the guitar center employee is someone who really knows the ins and outs of the electric guitar parts for your particular equipment.
Ok, I supposed I am almost done, but there are a few more steps
4) Depending on your electric guitar parts, there are different steps at this point. For replacement bridges and nuts, make sure they are screwed in a little tighter. For amps and switches, make sure you play your guitar for at least an hour switching to the different modes at least once to make sure that all the adjustments have been correctly made. And don’t over use that whammy bar ;-) . For pickups ensure that they are put in correctly and everything is adjusted correctly for each string, too tight or too loose may be a disaster (watch it you dimarzio pickup users, the dimarzio tends to be the trickiest to use and I wouldn’t recommend it unless you absolutely need it).
That’s about all in terms of electric guitar parts. Now let me go into maintenance of your guitar.
1) Fender Electric Guitar Parts: Fenders are tricky in terms of care. With fender guitar parts I recommend not using them too much for performance unless you’ve had special parts designed for such use, easily obtainable if you know the right resources.
2) Ibanez Electric Guitar Parts: Ibanez guitars are crazy, I must say. They need just the right touch. I’d say that these are probably the hardest type of guitar to deal with, and if you get jack plates for these I recommend you really be careful with how you use it (like a woman sorta hehe).
3) Golden Gate Electric Guitar Parts: Golden Gates only tend to have trouble with their bass bridges, they tend to be very cumbersome and sometimes low quality if you rely on guitar center having the right answers. Just go with it and you’ll probably be okay.
Okay, so I’ve touched on maintenance of electric guitar parts. I am now going to cover one more thing. Principles on guitars: The real deal on how to extend the life of your electric guitar and associated equipment.
1) Ensure the gear accessories are working properly. Any improper functioning of these gears can be a big disaster to your equipment. Particularly with fender stratocasters, the rest of your electric guitar parts will go awry as well if you just use the wrong type of gear, or don’t take care of them properly.
2) Don’t go a long way in killing your tremolos. They tend to be sensitive, and if you do so can result in major breakage of your guitar.
3) The bass guitar strings tend to be very sensitive, despite the connotation that bass is strong. Careful with that, play like a guitar player not a maniac.
Ok now let me touch on one more subject relating to electric guitar parts. That will be the money. How do you gauge quality of your jack plates with the fact that they cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars? You might be tempted to go acoustic, but keep in mind that this is not necessary. Remember that the best place for you to find electric guitar parts is your own resource network of colleagues, bandmates, etc. Don’t settle for less quality, but don’t pay a fortune either. If youre going to buy those bass tuners from a certain random seller online how is that person supposed to know the specific nuances and niches of your piece of equipment? Ok, you might think all Fender Stratocasters are the same, or all Golden Gates are alike, but think about the different makes, models, and all sorts of variances, remember that everyone builds in their own little things to show their personality in the guitar, such as painting the guitar body sunburst. But that’s just the surface, to achieve a specific sound people tend to modify and put their own electric guitar parts in so that they can achieve superb sound quality and excellent return on entertainment value (for performers) and sound quality (for music / sound lovers and performers alike).
For instance the sound quality of a Fender Stratocaster with its jack plates and bass tuners may be stunning, but not nearly as good as the Ibanez. Ibanez's jack plates tend to be rare yet not so much as other equipment forms, So I am clear, the edward van halen will never amount to golden gate and ibanez in terms of the quality of the jack plates, but might come closer to that of a fender. Yet dont get me wrong, Fenders are good, but dont think for a moment that I would choose their jack plates over those of the Ibanez.
Now if youre wondering it really depends on if you buy the correct jack plates and pickups for the right reasons. electric parts tend to be very good if you use them in the right ways. This requires some skill especially with the ibanez and fender as these are known to be the most cumbersome and difficult pieces of equipment to find in terms of quality and fit.I must mention one more thing. Keep in mind that the electric guitar body is the most sensitive, and the utter foundation of the guitar. Your electric guitar parts really must be tailored to it, especially if it is a custom build. Do not think that it does not exist for your equipment. Keep looking and plugging away, with practice and patience you soon won’t be taking so long to find the right electric guitar parts for you. Remember that and you shall succeed. Just be sure to follow everything I have said and you will be well on your way to finding the best electric guitar parts ever – for you.
